And the rock wall inspired the other cementing to be started and finished too!!

You might remember, that I really wanted 4 extra courses on our fireplace hearth – so the Christmas stockings will hang at a nice height.  It is important that the most special time of the year looks right!!

So my Honey obliged!

And he did the final clean up so they are all back to glorious recycled red brick colour too :-)!!

So, yesterday:

Yay - I was warm!!!

My darling Honey has been hard at work (at work and at home) and got our wood fire installed!  With the weather against him, he had to make good use of the few hours of low wind and some sunshine to get on the roof and get the flue through. (Um, yes, when we put the solar panels on the roof we forgot that we had already built a box for the flue to come through the strawbale insulation - what can I say, we are novices ;-).

Plus the many hours to build the hearth – he’s a bit of a perfectionist so there was a bit of adjusting and re-doing here and there – thanks Honey, I love it!

But, we all agree, it was well worth it J!
