I was going through a bit of a funk in the last couple of weeks.  It was cold, wet and miserable – and pretty much so was I.  I expect this of myself because I REALLY DON’T like winter, but still I was thinking, “Just pull your socks up and get going!”  I wanted to be feeling good to get things done inside the house and in the garden – but it just wasn’t in me…

Then a bit of a reality check hit me.  And it said to me, “Traditionally winter is a time of rest.  The garden gets a bit of rest and so do the humans”. 

I’m good with that thought!   J

But, what a difference some sunshine can make!  Today has been most productive – a lovely morning walk; washing galore; gathering chook tucker (=weeding); and then a little bit of cleaning inside, which - since Michael has steadily been working on building the extra shelves we needed in the pantry – turned into a full pantry clean – gotta be happy with that J.

And he put in a few hooks so we could hang these lovelies too J.

My vintage cutting board collection (two…so far).  The one on the left (paper lanterns and cherry blossom) was a wedding gift to my parents and the one on the right I found at an op shop – it has Australian native flowers. 

Hmm, I wonder if this de-cluttering is addictive?  Can probably hope!!

Day three – very pleased with cleaning these cupboards.  I didn’t actually turf anything because we use the vast majority (I am not die-hard, I am keeping some stuff that I assume we will get around to using soon-ish….watch this space…)

Now this, this you should be totally amazed to see!!   This is our cupboard of lunch containers and water bottles – it was frightening before – you know the one, you throw the item in and close the door before it all falls out??

And because my list included de-cluttering the Tupperware pile too, which we keep in the pantry, I just kept going afterwards and now this cupboard looks like this:

All clean, all tidy - and all the top bench and shelf wiped over and many plastic storage containers put into use like they are supposed to be!!!

Looking good pantry, looking good!

Oh, and I just had a thought…some are converting their pantry storage back to glass only….hmmm,  another time I think….gonna savour this happiness for a while yet :-).

This 'dungeon' is looking great but boy do I need that VOC sealer – the chemical fumes from the Liquid Nails is Nasty!  Yuck, and I just looked on the tube – ‘vapours may cause drowsiness and dizziness” – sounds dangerous L.  Another lesson learned – check your products before use!!  Research now tells me it may have been possible to use a low VOC liquid nails.

Other better news though – roof and guttering delivered J

 

 

 

 

 

 

There sure is lots of it and just a bit scary to think how it will look, it is the first real thing that we had to choose a colour that we can’t change if we don’t like it!
